Tribute to Roger Weide on Newgrounds = DISASTER!

Especially since 18 people had voted after 5 minutes already, which is kinda awkward, seeing the movie is 16 minutes long... oO

Took me over 2 days to compress the movie so far that it FINALLY fit into the 10MB filesizelimit x_X;;

I hope there isn't one moron among them who doesn't read any of the author's comment or disclaimers or anything, and randomly clicks on "stolen", since the movie's and preview pic is in Rogerregorroger style...

I had that happening once, an 11 year old clicked "stolen" cause he didn't get the point of the movie. X_X

It's really depressing...

All I got on newgrounds, the second flash site I ever visted, the site that's content inspired me in my hacking and flash movies... all I got is negative feedback.

Well,okee, I begin to exagerate.
People over there aren't overwelmed by joy at all, and the movie's still pending between 2.96 and 2.93...

I would have expected at LEAST an instant "green" rating, which happens if the movie's got a "3" or heigher.
Damn, I expected a "blue" rating, actually. For 6 to 8 months of hard work, I really expected that.

But when I read comments like these, it really makes me wonder if the people over there came from some weired twisted kind of bizarro universe. It makes me really sad.

"wasnt funny and wasnt animated well and it wasnt all drawn by you you uesd sprites"

That guy didn't even watch more than 30 seconds of the 16 minute long movie!
(okay, 13 minute, plus 3 minutes long credits, or something. whatever.)

Either that, or I'm misinterpreting it, and he did watch the actual movie but has nothing better to say then "uh, 5% of the movie had sprites in it, so you used sprites, so what you said in the preloader, that you drew all by yourself, wasn't 100% accurate!" -__-


"The begginning is very useless, it makes people think that is the movie. And then the menu said pie.... what is that? its not really funny. and the rest is not really good."

The beginning was actually supposed to surprise people when suddenly turning into an effect they probably never saw before.
(can't tell for sure that I'm the first to use this effect - on sprites, that is -  but I never saw sprites "melting" anywhere before, so it's probably not that common at least.)

Now this guy should have at least have liked it, knowing Roger's art, but Noooooo, and he's telling me I would be a bad voiceactor even -

Ehh... I have to admit, my "extreme German accent" aside (which I of course never noticed myself and was first told by Roger and here on DA), I was always, even in school, proud of my ability to pronounce stuff.

I'm not a "Toma Moto" tomamoto.deviantart.com/ , but I like my own voice and my voiceacting.

the "announcer type" from "Super explosive Mario 64" probably fits me best, i guess.


Damn, I don't get it. Not everyone can like it, okay, but I NEVER would have imagined THIS outcome.

Great, it's my fourth Newgrounds submission that goes "le suck".
Ooookay, 2.96 isn't that bad... but... it's not very good, too. It's... no, actually it is bad. Very bad, infact, for something with that amount of effort put into it.

First three NG submission were actually hacking movies, like Super explosive Mario 64.
Although that was back in 2005 when I wasn't that good already.


First one, "Burnout 2 Ultimate Crash" www.beyond-cheating.de/uk/inde… got almost blammed (score was around 1 or so), but it never passed judegement anyway, since some 11 year old boy didn't get the point of the movie and started yelling "all you did was take footage of a game and put it on!? Stolen!!" ...and clicked "stolen". -_-

Second and third one were actually one movie split in two parts, "Donkey Kong 64 on drugs" www.beyond-cheating.de/uk/inde…
Well these didn't get blammed or anything, but one of them pended around 2.5, the other one between 2.7 and 2.8 or something.


Okaaay, those two aren't really that good...
and I removed the two "DK on drugs" things recently because I didn't want this to be the first thing people would see of my non-flash work when checking "other submissions by this author" after seeing the Roger Tribute movie.



But still.

I spend the last two days and a few hours today with compressing the flash movie for the people on newgrounds to see it, in the end I had to struggle for the last few Kilobytes, had to rewatch the entire movie numerous times since flash started removing soundeffects again, and this is how I get repayed...


I'm NEVER ever again going to do something like that for Newgrounds.   


If a movie doesn't fit there, their bad luck. X(

Probably I've gone a little "emo" here but...

I still don't get it. I just don't get it!!
